Camping at Laguna Seca
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca has ten named camping areas in three tiers, a hard 40-foot limit on RVs and a six-adult cap per site. Every camper needs an event admission ticket as well as a camping pass. What it costs is the part you cannot look up: the raceway publishes no camping rates online at all, and no price for General Parking either, while selling Preferred and season parking passes. Budget for a charge you cannot check in advance, and call (831) 242-8200 before you plan a weekend around a number.
The three tiers, and the ten areas
The raceway groups camping into Premier, Reserved and General, and the difference is hook-ups and how you book rather than only position.
Premier — 5 areas
Chaparral · Can-Am · Corkscrew View · Lower Terrace "E-5" · Turn 5 Right "T5R"
These carry “partial hook-ups and/or an excellent view of the track”. Note the “and/or” — the raceway does not say which of the five have hook-ups and which are there for the view, so if you need power, confirm the specific area before booking rather than assuming Premier means serviced.
Reserved — 4 areas
Grand Prix · Corkscrew Upper View · Upper Terrace "E-6" · Terrace "E-7"
These may include a fire pit and a picnic table, with hillside or track views. “May” is the raceway’s word, and it is doing work: it is not a guarantee for any given site.
General — outside Turns 9, 10 and 11
Dry camping. No hook-ups, no picnic tables, no barbecue pits. The raceway’s wording is worth reading precisely: “You are guaranteed space, however there are not designated areas.” You will get in; you will not get a numbered pitch. Arrive early if you want to choose where you sit.

Rules that decide whether you can come at all
- — RVs: maximum length 40 feet. A hard limit, not a guideline. Measure before you book a coach.
- — Six adults per site, with children under 15 not counted against it.
- — Every camper needs an admission ticket for the duration of the event, children under 15 excepted. A camping pass alone does not get you in.
- — Check-in 2:00–5:00 p.m. daily, check-out 12 noon. The check-in window is three hours; arriving at seven in the evening is not covered by it.
- — Two pets per site, fees apply and rabies verification is required — though pet camping fees are waived during premier events.
- — No overnight parking in the General or Preferred parking areas. Sleeping at the track requires a camping pass, not a parking pass.

Getting in: South Boundary Road, not Highway 68
This is the single thing most likely to cost you an hour. For the 2026 season the raceway is explicit: “When entering the park during any of our Major 2026 Season events, you must come in through the South Boundary Rd. entrance to the park.” The INDYCAR finale is one of those events. Do not route to the Highway 68 main entrance out of habit or because a map app sends you there.
General Parking is the Purple 10 area, also reached from South Boundary Road. Preferred Parking is the Green Lakebed area. Will-call runs from 7 a.m. until halfway through the last race of the day, again via South Boundary Road.
Gates “generally open at 7 a.m. during race events” and close at 10 p.m. or midnight depending on the event — the raceway’s own hedge, not ours. No gate times specific to 4–6 September have been published.
The INDYCAR weekend, 4–6 September 2026
The Grand Prix of Monterey closes the NTT INDYCAR Series and INDY NXT seasons — the champion is crowned here, which is the kind of weekend that fills a campground. General tent camping is available across 3–7 September, so you can be on site the day before running starts and stay the night after the race.
Premium trackside camping is sold separately alongside the Turn 3 VIP Club, new for 2026. The Champions Club is already sold out.

How to book, and why you may have to phone
General camping can be booked online, and walk-ins are taken at the Entry Station until 5:00 p.m. daily. Premier and Reserved sites are different: during premier events — which the INDYCAR finale is — they are reservable by phone only, on (831) 242-8200. The office runs weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or [email protected] .
That matters for planning. If you want a hook-up or a track view for race weekend, you cannot do it at midnight from a laptop — you have to reach a person during California business hours.
What nobody publishes
These are not gaps in our research. We looked, and the raceway does not put them online.
- Camping rates, for any tier. No nightly rate, no weekend rate, no indication of whether camping is sold per night or as an event pass. The camping page points to Event Camping Guide PDFs and the ticket office. Ask on (831) 242-8200.
- The General Parking price. The raceway publishes exactly where General Parking is — the Purple 10 area, off South Boundary Road — but not what it costs, while separately selling Preferred Parking and season parking passes. The asymmetry is deliberate enough to be worth stating: budget for a parking charge on arrival and confirm the amount with the ticket office rather than assuming it is free because no price appears.
- Quiet hours and generator rules. Neither appears on the camping page. For a campground where dry sites and RVs share ground outside Turns 9 to 11, that is the question most likely to affect whether you sleep.
- When camping sells out for the INDYCAR weekend. No sell-out date, no remaining-capacity indicator, and no waitlist is published for camping. The Champions Club is marked sold out; camping is not marked either way.
- Whether Watkins Gate opens for this event. Older Laguna Seca event material describes a Watkins Gate entrance restricted to Saturdays. It does not appear on the raceway’s current ticket information, which names only South Boundary Road for 2026 major events. Treat South Boundary Road as the entrance and ask the ticket office if you specifically need another.
- Off-site alternatives. The raceway publishes none, and we are not going to invent drive times from campgrounds it does not endorse. If on-site camping is full, the ticket office is the right first call — they know what the overflow arrangement is for a given weekend and we do not.
