Santa Cruz Farmers Markets: Days, Hours & Locations

No farmers market in Santa Cruz County today, Monday 5 October. Next: Tuesday 6 October, Felton Farmers' Market, 1:30–5:30pm at Downtown Felton, on Highway 9, Felton.

Santa Cruz County has four year-round farmers markets: Wednesday afternoon downtown, Saturday morning on the Westside and at Cabrillo College in Aptos, and Sunday morning in Live Oak. Two more, in Scotts Valley and Felton, are seasonal. Every day, time and address here comes from the market operators' own sites.

Which market fits your visit

  • — A weekend in Santa Cruz, any time of year. Both days are covered. Saturday has the Westside market (9am–1pm) and Aptos at Cabrillo College (8am–noon). Sunday has Live Oak at 15th and East Cliff (9am–1pm).
  • — A weekday lunch break downtown. The Downtown market runs Wednesday 12:30–5pm on Cedar Street, between Walnut and Church. It moved there in June 2025, so listings from before then may give its old location.
  • — Monday, Thursday or Friday. No market on this page runs on those days. Watsonville's Friday market exists, but its hours could not be confirmed from an operator source — see the note at the foot of the page.
  • — Felton on a hot afternoon. This is the one most likely to catch you out. The operator cancels Felton at 95°F or under a National Weather Service heat advisory, and its season ends on Tuesday 27 October. Check before driving up Highway 9.
  • — Shopping with CalFresh. The five Santa Cruz Community Farmers' Markets match EBT up to $15 in Market Match tokens — swipe $15 of EBT and you get another $15 in tokens to spend on fruit and vegetables. At Aptos, EBT stops at 11am, an hour before the market closes.

Santa Cruz

Downtown Santa Cruz Farmers' Market

  • — Wednesdays, 12:30–5pm · Year round
  • — Cedar Street & Church Street, Santa Cruz, CA. On Cedar Street from Walnut Avenue to Church Street, around the corner onto Church toward the library, plus the small parking lot there. Open in Maps
  • — You can enrol in CalFresh at the Downtown market on any Wednesday.
  • — Every Wednesday, year round, rain or shine.
  • — The market moved to Cedar and Church on 4 June 2025. The operator calls it home until a permanent market is built, which it expects to break ground in 2027 or 2028.

The operator's largest and oldest market, running since 1990 one block off Pacific Avenue. Many of its farms, the operator says, were and remain pillars of the organic and ecological farming movement.

By the operator's account it also has the county's widest spread of cultural food: naan and curry, Argentinian empanadas, Eritrean dishes, Salvadoran pupusas, traditional Italian cookies, Oaxacan dishes and long-ferment breads and pastries.

Two things only this market has: a free bike valet, and a Veggie Valet at the information booth that holds your bags while you fetch the car or keep shopping. There is no scheduled music downtown — buskers only.

Who runs these markets

Payment rules are set by each operator rather than by each market, so they are written out once here.

Santa Cruz Community Farmers' Markets

Runs Downtown Santa Cruz Farmers' Market, Westside Santa Cruz Farmers' Market, Live Oak/Eastside Farmers' Market, Scotts Valley Farmers' Market, Felton Farmers' Market.

A nonprofit that came together in autumn 1990, after the Loma Prieta earthquake, and now runs five certified markets representing more than 100 family farms, food makers and artisans.

EBT / CalFresh: redeemed at the information booth with the market manager.

Market Match: EBT is matched dollar for dollar in Market Match tokens for fruit and vegetables, up to $15 per visit.

WIC and Senior Nutrition coupons are taken by eligible farms at all its markets from May to December. EBT tokens are worth $1 each and no change is given.

Certified means certified by the state to sell at a certified farmers market — the operator stresses that it does not mean certified organic.

The operator publishes no pet policy.

Monterey Bay Certified Farmers Markets

Runs Aptos Farmers Market at Cabrillo College.

EBT / CalFresh and card-bought Big Bucks are offered only at its Friday Monterey market and its Saturday Aptos market, and only until 11am. Its homepage and its services page disagree on the start, 9am against 8am, so come between 9 and 11.

Big Bucks are bought with a credit card at the Information Booth and every vendor takes them like cash.

Founded in 1976, it requires its farmers to sell only what they grow themselves.

Animals are not allowed except service animals, which the operator attributes to the California Health and Safety Code.

Where other listings go wrong

Several pages that rank for these markets give hours or seasons that their operators no longer publish. Checked against the operators' own pages on 4 October 2026:

  • Downtown's hours. Visit Santa Cruz County's listings and the Downtown Santa Cruz association's page give Wednesdays 1–5pm. The operator says 12:30–5pm, so the first half hour is missing from those listings.
  • Downtown's location. The Downtown association's page describes the market in Lot 16 off Church Street, wrapping onto the 800 block of Cedar. Since 4 June 2025 it has run along Cedar Street from Walnut Avenue to Church, around the corner onto Church and into the small lot there.
  • "Year round" for Felton and Scotts Valley. The operator's own home page lists both among its year-round markets, but each market's own page gives a season: Felton runs 5 May to 27 October, Scotts Valley 2 May to 21 November. This page follows the market pages.
